Over the past few weeks, Ma enjoyed looking at lots of pictures of dogs and cats posing in front of Christmas trees. Yesterday, she thought to get an “official” Christmas photo of me in front of our puny little tree. I was more than willing to accept the chicken bribes…er, bits, but couldn’t sit still.
Oops! Almost Ma!
I’m not really scared in the photo above, just wishing she’d hurry up with the treat delivery.
So here you have it. Me. Miss Poppy Seed in my Christmas Sweater in front of the Christmas Galvanized Bucket and Christmas Tote Bag. Blurry of course!
Ma’s been doing it up for the cats and me this holiday. She made a batch of Tuna Treats* last night. They should be just for me, but I’m going to have to bite the bullet and share with the dumb white-footed cats and Stripes the Piggy Cat. The Nemesis won’t touch the stuff, but get this – Ma is giving a bag of Tuna Treats to my miserable cousin Wilberforce the Pit Bull. I’m not allowed to visit him as he’s jealous of me and tries to bite me. Ma, the traitor, adores Wills all the same and has Christmas gifts for him, including MY quickly diminishing supply of Tuna Treats.
Miss Dana White Foot the Pizzelle Eating Cat, Miss Poppy Seed, the Nemesis, The Other Cats and Ma wish you and yours a Merry Christmas!!!
*Ma’s Recipe for Tuna Treats
2 cans of tuna in water (don’t drain)
1 tablespoon of olive oil (For God’s Sake don’t use the extra virgin stuff – what a waste!)
2 tablespoons of grated parmesan cheese or locatelli cheese
1/2 cup of flour (may not use all of it)
Turn the oven on to 375 F
Grease a brownie tin or place parchment paper on a cookie sheet.
Use your hands to mix the tuna, olive oil, cheese, and half of the flour in a bowl.
The mixture should look and feel like cookie dough. Slowly add more flour if needed to reach that consistency.
Press into the pan or onto the parchment paper. There’s no need to get obsessive about neatness.
Bake for 20 minutes.
After it cools, cut into little pieces and store in a plastic tub in the refrigerator.
If you want, after cutting the treats you can put them back into the oven at a low temperature for 15 minutes to harden the treats. Then they become Tuna Biscotti!!! 😀
Enjoy my four-legged friends. They stink like heaven!
